Kim Ku / Inverted Love

Sleepy day. Time for skeletons!

It’s a sleepy Monday. Days like this make me want to be at home in my PJs.

I’ve been working on Hearts & Holes (previously named “Untitled”) but I’ve only got a skeleton sketch for you today. Spoiler-free so no worries.

More soon… and they will be respectable scans instead of awkwardly angled photos from my camera.

Also, I downloaded a cool wordpress app from my phone so I’ll be able to update from the road soon! I forgot my phone today so I won’t be able to test it out today though… bye for now…

Skeletons: Preview!

Yep, it’s time to snap out of it! Snap out of not updating, that is. Skeletons is almost done… in terms of pencils and layout in thumbnail form. A preview that I hope is spoiler-less. I hate spoilers.

This “beauty” was made with a mechanical person. Fancy, I know.

Another project is also going down. A few friends and I are making dystopian comics. It seems fun so far. My comics are so long that I hope this one can be less than 20 pages… will our character’s universes collide? I hope so!

Skeletons more

Another little preview for you that is hopefully minimal in its spoiler-ness. It’s a work in progress.

Ok, just to keep things clear, here’s the progress of my various ongoing projects.

Skeletons: A preview!

So I’ve finally finished the thumbnails for the first issue of Skeletons in the Closet. That’s right. Thumbnails. I want to cry a little only because it’s taken months for this small feat to be accomplished. I’ll start revealing pieces day by day of some samples, but I really don’t want to reveal too much– I hate spoilers.

As expected, there is a skeleton in the story.

A new direction

I have a secret to tell you. I don’t plan my drawings out on thumbnails. If i want to draw something, I don’t draw 8 different ways it could look. I jump right in… but I’ve discovered this is a big problem in comics.

My stories often lose their pacing because I go off on too many tangents or I extend an unimportant scene for too many panels. Comics need serious real estate planning so I’m starting now with this Google Doc(above). I’m glad you can’t read it because it’s a mess, but for me, it’s the best start I’ve had!

So this one is going to be a 5 part series. The first chapter is titled Denial. I know, it’s sunny and rainbows as usual. The super tentative title for the series is Skeletons in the Closet.

I draw comics, design sites, screen print and make books. Here's where I log my process, woes, and successes for you and for me.
